How do I delete shared folders on my desktop?

I have Windows Vista, and two shared folders dating back to 2008 that I haven't been able to get rid of. I've tried looking on google, ask, even here on yahoo, and I can't figure out how to do this. I'm very computer illiterate, so if you could bare with me and not tell me to try another website, I'd appreciate it. Also, if you can tell me how to do this, please don't explain in too much computer lingo and give through instructions. Thank you for your help, I appreciate it a lot.
